Gaming Clusters Across Multiple European Regions
On June, 9 2026 the GAME-ER project hosted its fourth webinar, “From Data to Action: Exploring the Game-ER Interactive Methodological Toolkit“, bringing together researchers, cluster managers, game industry professionals and project partners to explore the latest version of the project’s Interactive Methodological Toolkit available at gameclusters.eu. This online event served as an opportunity not only to demonstrate the platform’s current features but also to gather valuable stakeholder feedback that will shape its further development before the release of the final version in 2027.
The webinar opened with an introduction to the GAME-ER project and the objectives of the Interactive Methodological Toolkit. Participants learned how the platform translates the project’s research findings into a practical online resource designed to support policymakers, cluster managers and other ecosystem stakeholders in understanding and strengthening Europe’s video game clusters. The session also highlighted that the toolkit is still under active development, with community feedback playing an important role in refining its final version.
The main part of the webinar featured a live demonstration of the toolkit. Attendees were guided through its three core sections: the Regional Map, which visualises statistical data on gaming ecosystems across European regions; Studied Clusters, presenting detailed qualitative profiles of the six case-study regions; and Policy Recommendations, where evidence-based recommendations are organised across regional, national and European governance levels. The presenters also introduced planned future features, including additional resources, interactive filters, accessibility improvements and new visualisations to further enhance the user experience.
A key objective of the webinar was to engage participants in the toolkit’s development. Two live polls invited attendees to evaluate the platform’s usefulness and identify which sections they considered most valuable. The results showed a strong appreciation for the toolkit, with the large majority of respondents describing it as very useful. Among its features, policy recommendations were considered the most valuable component, followed by regional statistical data and supporting evidence. These findings confirm the importance of providing practical, evidence-based resources that can support decision-making within Europe’s game development ecosystem.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A, during which participants shared practical suggestions for future improvements. Recommendations included introducing more detailed genre and technology classifications, adding narrative case studies alongside quantitative data, and further clarifying methodological limitations. This constructive dialogue provided the project team with concrete ideas that will be considered during the next stages of toolkit development.
The webinar attracted 15 participants from 20 registered attendees. The audience consisted of highly relevant stakeholders, including researchers, cluster representatives, academics, practitioners and several GAME-ER consortium partners.
As the GAME-ER project moves towards its final phase the insights collected during the webinar will directly contribute to improving the platform, ensuring that the final resource effectively supports policymakers, researchers and gaming ecosystem stakeholders across Europe.
